I'm a young, vivacious woman with terrible health. I'd like to blame genetics and situations beyond my control for this, but I know it is partly my fault. I decided I was sick of feeling like "twenty five is the new fifty two," so I changed my diet and lifestyle to help fix my declining health. No one my age should have a blood pressure of 190/110. This is where I write about it.

 

I will never again eat a Rice Krispie Treat ad Noodles and Company

However, I will stick to my Med Salad. 310 calories for the large is not bad at all.

I also really like to get the Whole Grain Tuscan Linguine, minus the cream and the cheese. Yum.

Wake up in the Morning Feeling Like P.Diddy

Well, I’m not entirely sure how P. Diddy feels, but the guy has enough money to hire somebody to give him a piggy back ride everywhere, so I am assuming he feels pretty stellar.

I feel pretty good today. I decided instead of taking my usual nap after work that I was going to stay awake and take a run. Well, my run turned into a three hour run/walk all over the city. It felt really, really good!

I just sent a friend of mine the following text:
“I decided I’m done being depressed. Let’s hang out.”

Yay me.

No granola bar bingers today.

I decided that I am going to take my Topiramate and Adderall separately to see if that helps. Basically, I feel as if they counteract each other because the Topiramate makes me disoriented and forgetful, and the Adderall is supposed to help me concentrate. My doctor said one shouldn’t effect the other, but I feel as if they do.

But hey, what do I know? I dropped out of art school…

9.20.10 Recap

Upon shutting down my computer and leaving work yesterday, I headed off to pick up my little brother from my parent’s house.

They really should have a sign hanging above the door that reads, “Abandon Your Healthy Eating Habits, All Ye Who Enter Here.”

Not only is my folks’ home literally bursting with food (I counted thirty one boxes of cereal in the pantry once, and only four people lived there at the time) but the majority of it is snack stuff. Pita chips, crackers, cheese curds, packaged cookies… a dieter’s nightmare.

Oh, and she ordered my favorite pizza. Veggie with feta cheese on it. I was afraid this was going to happen! I tried to resist, but I ended up having two and a half pieces. I opt-ed to eat the skinner slices, and fed the thick crust to my dogs.

Veggie and Feta Cheese Pizza- 2 1/2 Slices
550 Calories; 180 Fat Calories (this is approx, as I am pulling info off of the net and not from the actual pizza place) 

Just in case you’re wondering, two out of my three dogs are overweight.

My brother and I headed out to the baseball game, where we witnessed the Brewers embarrass themselves for a couple innings. Well, Escobar did a great job stealing a few bases, but that’s about it.

We decided to go wander downtown instead. So what did I do? Take him to Brick 3, of course! My brother is a teenage boy, so he eats like none other. I wanted him to try the mac and cheese pizza. I wasn’t especially hungry, but he wanted me to eat, so I got a slice of Caprese.

Remember when I said I was going to try to eat healthy? Let’s ask the three and a half pieces of pizza about that.

Taking my little brother to the Brewers game tonight. I am not feeling well, so I doubt I’ll mow down on stadium food.

Spicy Vegan B.S.A. (“Bacon”/Spinach/Avocado)
- Three LightLife Organic Smoky Tempeh Strips- Two slices Natural/Organic Whole Wheat Bread (I used EarthGrains 100% Natural Whole Wheat Bread)- Fresh Spinach Leaves- 1/2 Medium Avocado; Sliced- 1 tbsp. Follow Your Heart Organic Veganaise- 1/4 tsp Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce (more or less, depending on taste)
Toast slices of whole wheat bread, and prepare tempeh strips according to package. (Only requires a few minutes of simple pan-frying in oil)After cooking tempeh strips, pat with paper towel to remove excess oil. Layer on toast, then top with spinach leaves and Avocado. Spread-on Veganaise and Sriracha sauce. You can choose to mix them together before spreading them on, but I find it easier just to do this when applying them to the bread.
Cut in half, and enjoy!
The whole process takes about ten minutes, and the outcome is an absolutely delicious sandwich. Even my non-vegan friends love it!
Approx. Calories: 557; 222 Fat Calories. 
Not bad considering most of the fat calories come from the “good” fat in the Avocado. You could also reduce your calorie intake by trying this on the SandwichThin bread, or even a lettuce wrap.

I was a big waste of space yesterday.

I went to sleep at around 5am, woke up at 2pm, and didn’t move from the couch all day.

Save to make food.

I won’t even tell you what I ate, but I can guarantee it was enough to keep a baby hippo satiated for months.

I was being a big baby because of my tattoo. It is very hard to sit up because it burns so bad! Whaaaa.

As for saturday, I was a pretty good eater. Can’t really recall specifics, but I know I brought one of my protein shakes out to the clubs with me.

Yeah, I was that girl.

“Yo, what the hell you be drankin?”
“It’s a dairy-free, gluten-free, sustained energry protein shake”
“Like muscle milk?”
“No, it’s nothing like muscle milk”

I have absolutely no desire to eat anything today. In fact, the only reason I ate that Avocado is because I haphazardly cut it up while I was talking to my co-worker in the kitchen at work. I make a point not to eat when I am not hungry, so I am a bit annoyed with myself for eating that dumb Avocado. It didn’t even taste good. However I lectured the man across the hall on how he should be eating a serving of almonds everyday, and he just came in here to tell me he choked down his nuts (ha), so now I feel like I need to.

Remember a few days ago when I mentioned that the Metronidazole sometimes left a “metallic” taste in my mouth? Well, that has been lacing everything that has been touching my lips. Who wants to eat anything when it tastes as if it has been finished with a dash of iron? I don’t even want pizza right now.

Yeah. Not even pizza sounds good. I must be sick.
